Logo and Website Design for Maribyrnong River and Waterways Association
We’re excited to share the transformative work we’ve done for the Maribyrnong River and Waterways Association (MRWA), a Melbourne-based community organisation committed to the conservation of local waterways. Our collaboration aimed to create a digital platform that not only serves as an informational hub but also as a catalyst for community engagement and ecological restoration.
Working with Design Grid to create an organisational website was a great experience. The team was attentive, and innovative and delivered a great product. I’d be more than happy to recommend them and will continue to use their services going forward.

The Challenge
MRWA needed a compelling online presence that could serve multiple functions: educate the community, mobilise support, and provide a platform for fundraising. The challenge was to create a website that was both user-friendly and rich in content, all while encapsulating the essence of MRWA’s mission.
The Solution
Logo Design
We kicked off the project by designing a logo that features the short-finned eel, a symbol that resonates deeply with Australia’s First Peoples and perfectly aligns with MRWA’s mission. This design choice was a nod to the cultural and spiritual significance of the eels and the Maribyrnong River itself.
Website Development
Utilising WordPress and Elementor, we built a dynamic, easy-to-navigate website that serves as a nexus for ecological restoration and cultural storytelling. The site features a seamless donation function, enabling MRWA to easily garner community support for their initiatives.
Event Integration
We integrated our agency version of Eventin by ThemeWinter to feature a prominent Call-to-Action (CTA) for donations and events, connecting all community groups effectively.
SEO Optimisation
The website is fully optimised for search engines, focusing on keywords most relevant to MRWA’s mission and audience. This ensures that the site is not just visually appealing but also a powerful tool for organic growth and community engagement.
Content Strategy
The site is designed to be a living entity, continually updated with engaging videos and educational content. This ensures it continues to serve MRWA’s mission to ecologically restore the river and share the cultural stories of the waterscapes.
The Outcome
The website has been a resounding success, serving as more than just a digital space; it’s a catalyst for change. It fosters a deeper connection between the community and their environment, amplifying MRWA’s vital work.
Ongoing Relationship
We’re incredibly proud to be part of this transformative project and look forward to our ongoing relationship with MRWA, providing maintenance and support to ensure the website continues to serve its purpose effectively.
